About the LAC's Calls
Brick-and-Mortar Calls to Artists
On this Page is where we take submissions for our Brick-and-Mortar Calls to Artists. This includes Calls for the Township of Langley Civic Facility "Civic Gallery", The Timms Community Centre "Walkway Gallery", and the Aldergrove Kinsmen Community Centre "Main Hall Gallery" and "Foyer Gallery".
Artists are welcome to submit 3 artworks for consideration. Artists will receive a notice via email about the status of their submission after the shows submission deadline.
If you are accepted to one of our Brick-and-Mortar Exhibitions your artwork will also be featured on the virtual online gallery. Click here to see the AIFS Online Galleries. Since your artwork will be featured on the online Gallery it is imperative we receive high-quality image submissions from you. Scroll to the bottom of this page for resources on how to photograph your artwork.
Please note: The Langley Arts Council takes a 30% commission on all artwork sales in our brick and mortar galleries. If your exhibition is online as well as in one of the AIFS Brick-and-Mortar galleries there will be a 30% commission taken on sales, not a 15% commission.
Additional information when applying for the artSpacific Call to Artists
ArtSpacfic is an annual Call to Artists hosted by The Langley Arts Council.
ArtSpacific is a special juried BC-wide exhibition with $1,200 worth of prizes being awarded to winners. All 2-D artists who work on paper, canvas, or wooden panels are welcome to submit their work for consideration.
All submissions must be wired and ready to hang, only work that can be hung on a wall can currently be accommodated. Limit 3 submissions per application, and one application per artist (please note we may accept less than 3 images depending on space). All artwork must be original (no photographs or prints). This is an OPEN call meaning you do not have to be a member of the Langley Arts Council to apply. Prizes will be awarded to multiple categories: 1st place ($300), 2nd place ($200), and third place ($100) totalling $1,200.
The Jurying Process
For artSpacific artwork is juried twice. It is juried initially for being entered into the physical exhibition then it is juried by a committee for each prize category.
Drop off OR Delivery
Artists will only need to ship their work if they make it through the first round of judging. Since this is a brick-and-mortar juried exhibition the artists are expected to ship and or deliver their artwork to and from the Aldergrove Kinsmen Community Centre for the exhibition pick-up and drop-off dates. If you are shipping your artwork to the LAC please buy insurance for this, the LAC insurance cannot cover artworks in transit. The artwork you are choosing to ship to the LAC is at the artist's expense. The LAC does not cover shipping costs for this exhibition.
To Apply for the artSpacific Call please complete the three-step process.
1. complete the Artwork Submission Form
2. Pay the submission fee for each entry ($15 for 1st entry, $10 for each subsequent entry).
3. Email your artwork images to the gallery director at email@example.com
Applying to the Online Gallery
We accept artists working in any media and are open internationally to submissions for these Calls. Artists are assessed by the work they submit below.
Please fill out the form below. Please clarify which Call to Artists you are applying for by giving us the exhibition name. Artists can submit a maximum of three artworks to be considered for each online call.
Artists will be sent an email regarding the status of their submission after the exhibition deadline; it may take up to one week to review all of the applications by the juror. We will notify everyone regarding the status of their application once all artwork has been considered.
Please keep in mind that the AIFS Online Gallery will be using the photograph you submit here for our online gallery. Please be sure to watch the video at the bottom of the page and follow the guidelines to make sure you are submitting the best quality photograph for the online gallery.
Please be aware that when applying for an Online Group Exhibition the artwork you have submitted MUST be reserved for sales for the duration of the exhibition and not sold elsewhere. All artwork for sale on langleyarts.ca will be priced in CAD dollars.
The LAC takes a 15% split of sales. For members of the Langley Arts Council their Online Submissions are FREE. For non-members of the Langley Arts Council in order to be considered for an Online Exhibition, the artist must pay the submission fee (the submission fee is non-refundable). All fees go towards the making of the AIFS Online Gallery and to fund more online exhibition projects like this one.
